About The Artist

A full-time artist for the past 16 years, Steve Wirtz enjoys creating fun, often dynamic sculptures out of wire and laminated paper (papier mache'). Hi works have been sought out by collectors around the globe. Steve regularly exhibits at various art festivals around the US, and is featured in a few select galleries. Steve also enjoys sharing his talent at artist-in-residency programs with students of all ages.

Artist Statement

I want my art to have a presence. I am influenced by a wide spectrum of events in daily life, but I especially like to create humorous pieces that often depict a play on words. Even though I've been working in this medium for over twenty years, I feel like I am just getting started.
